Joining the movement as a Walk MS team with hundreds of thousands of people across the country is an experience like no other. Being on a team is an opportunity to share a great experience with friends, family members, co-workers or anyone with the common goal of ending MS forever. All you need are four or more people, a team name and a captain. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to register your team for the MS Walk and start fundraising.
Moving Together: Three simple steps to starting a team
Spread the word to friends, family and co-workers and encourages them to join you! MS Walk teams must consist of 4 or more people but there is no limit to the number of team members one team can have.
2. Selecting a Team Captain
As a leader, it’s up to you to remind your teammates of why they registered. Walk MS can be more than a fundraising event — it can be a joyous celebration of how far we’ve come together!
Forming a Corporate Team? Arrange to have a staff member visit your company to promote the MS Walk and recruit participants for your team.
Fundraising comes more naturally when you make it personal. If your team is walking for someone with MS, ask them if they would be willing to tell their story. Be sure to follow that with a statement about how much progress we’ve made in treating the disease.
Don’t forget to ask everyone who sponsors you if their employer offers matching gifts!
