How many miles is the Walk?

The route for each Walk MS location is different:

  • Akron: 1 mile route and 3 mile route (both fully accessible)
  • Athens: 3 mile route (fully accessible)
  • Columbus: 2 mile route (fully accessible)
  • Cleveland: 2 mile route and 4 mile route (both fully accessible)
  • Hartville: 1 mile route and 7 mile route (7 mile route is on a nature trail and not accessible)
  • Lancaster: 3 mile route and 7 mile route (both fully accessible)
  • Mahoning Valley: 2 mile route and 4 mile route (both fully accessible)
  • Massillon: 2 mile route and 4 mile route (4 mile route is not accessible)
  • McConnelsville: Loop is 1/2 mile long and walkers can choose how many times they would like to complete it
  • Mentor: 2 mile route and 7 mile route (both fully accessible)
  • Newark: 2 mile route and 4 mile route (both fully accessible)
  • Wooster: 2 1/2 mile route (fully accessible)

How many rest stops are along the route?

The number of rest stops is dependant upon the length of the route. Therefore, each Walk MS site is different:

  • Akron: 2 rest stops
  • Athens: 1 rest stop
  • Columbus: 2 rest stops
  • Cleveland: 2 rest stops
  • Hartville: 2 rest stops
  • Lancaster: 2 rest stops
  • Mahoning Valley: 2 rest stops
  • Massillon: 2 rest stops
  • McConnelsville: Because the route is a 1/2 mile loop, there is no real rest stop
  • Mentor: 2 rest stops
  • Newark: 1 rest stop
  • Wooster: 1 rest stop

What time does the route close?

Most Walk MS sites do not have an actual closing time. The route closes when all of the walkers have completed the route.

Akron and Columbus do have closing times: Akron walkers must be off the route by 10:30 and Columbus walkers must be done by 9:30.

What happens if you are unable to complete the route?

Each route is supported by many volunteers that will help you should you need help along the route. If you find you are unable to complete the route, you will be transported to the finish location.

My child is in a stroller, can I bring him/her? Do I need to register him/her?

Yes, strollers are welcome at each Walk MS location.

How much do I have to raise to receive a t-shirt?

You must turn in, either before the day of the Walk or at the Walk, at least $125 to receive an official Walk MS t-shirt.

What time is Check-In and what time does the Walk begin?

Each Walk MS location has its own check-in time and start time.

  • Akron: Check-In is at 8:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 9:00 a.m.
  • Athens: Check-In is at 9:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.
  • Columbus: Check-In is at 7:30 a.m. and the Walk begins at 8:30 a.m.
  • Cleveland: Check-In is at 9:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.
  • Hartville: Check-In is at 9:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.
  • Lancaster: Check-In is at 9:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.
  • Mahoning Valley: Check-In is at 8:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 9:00 a.m.
  • Massillon: check-In is at 9:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 10:00 a.m.
  • McConnelsville: Check-In is at 6:00 p.m. and the Walk begins at 7:00 p.m.
  • Mentor: Check-In is at 9:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 10:00 p.m.
  • Newark: Check-In is at 8:00 a.m. and the Walk begins at 9:00 a.m.

Can I send in all of my money before the Walk? Where do I send them?

Yes, if you would rather not hold the donations you receive until the day of the Walk, you are welcome to to send them to the Ohio Buckeye Chapter Office. You can send the donations to: Ohio Buckeye Chapter, 6155 Rockside Road, Suite 202, Independence, OH 44131

How long do you have after the Walk to turn in money?

Donations for the Walk MS event can be turned in long after the event is over. However, for donations to count toward a prize, they must be received by August 14, 2009.

Can I bring my dog to the Walk?

With the exception of Columbus, dogs are welcome at the Walk. Because of the animals at the Columbus Zoo, dogs will not be permitted (trained service dogs are permitted).

How many people do you need to form a team?

A team should consist of 4 or more people.

How do I change my Username and/or Password?

Once logged in, click on the link at the top of the page "Edit Your Profile". You will then be able to change your contact information, e-mail address, username and password.

How do I unsubscribe from e-mails?

Toward the bottom of each e-mail message is a link stating, "Click here to change your e-mail preferences". Use this link and follow the instructions given to unsubscribe.

What is a Personal Page?

Your Personal Page is an online promotional tool for your use when asking friends and family to join your team or sponsor you by making a donation. After signing up for an event, a personal page is created for you. You have the option of using the default page or to personalize it. You can even add your own photos. Go to your Walk Center to get started.

Your Personal Page can be modified and updated as often as you like so you can use it to keep your sponsors up-to-date on your fundraising progress.

How do I change my fundraising goal?

On the bottom right side of your Walk Participant Center is the location to modify your personal fundraising goal.

Can't find it? Contact us and we will change it for you.

How do I change my team name or team goal?

Only the team captain has the ability to change the team name or team goal.

Once logged in to the Walk Center, click on "My Team", there you will be able to update the Team Name and Goal.

How can I see who has donated to me?

Once you have logged into your Walk Center, click on the "My Progress" button. This will allow you to view your donor list and the amounts donated.

How can I see who is on my team?

Once you are logged into your Walk Center, clink on the "My Team" button. From here you can see your team roster and the amounts raised by each team member.

How can I e-mail my whole team at once?

A personalized e-mail message can be sent to all of the members of your team at once.

Simply go to your Participant Center and click on the "My Team" button. Then scroll down to your roster where you will find a link to send an e-mail to your team.

Why does my name not appear on the team roster and can't be found when searched for?

By default, a Personal Page is Public, meaning your name will appear in the participant search list and on your team's roster. Also, anyone accessing the site will be able to support you.

Setting your Personal Page to Private means your name will not appear in the participant search list or team roster and only people you personally invite will be able to support you.

To change your Personal Page from Private to Public, go to your Participant Center. On the right side near the bottom, click the link that says "Make my donation form Public".

How do I enter gifts received offline?

To enter any gifts you receive offline (checks and cash) you must first login to your Participant Center. Then click on the "My Progress" button which will bring up a page showing any donations received. At the far right side of the box titled "Gift Summary" there is a link for "Entering Gifts Received Offline".

This will take you to the screen where you can enter the cash and checks you have received.

Note: It is very important that you enter all of the donor's contact information (full name and address). This not only helps in making sure gifts are credited properly, but also ensures that your donors receive receipts and their names appear on your website.
